Timelock. Timelock protects access through the link until the scheduled drand release. Original copies you keep remain readable. Choose a date within one year.

Timelock costs $3 USD per Postdate. This covers opening dates within one year and 100 MB including encryption and file packaging. Opening depends on drand and Postdate being available, and on the encryption remaining secure. Senders can keep original copies. Postdates can still expire or be removed for abuse. Send it before it opens

A letter in a drawer or folder can be read by anyone who finds it. You may want it read at a particular time in their life.

Set the letter to open on that date. Anyone with the link must wait until then to read it.

Create your Postdate

   Write the letter, and attach anything that belongs with it.

   Set it to open on the date you chose.

   Choose Timelock so it cannot be read early.

   Give the link to the person who should hold it.

Common questions

Is this a substitute for a will?

No. Postdate sets when a personal letter can be read. Postdate does not create or validate a will. Seek legal advice for documents that need legal effect.

What if the person loses the link?

Without the link, the message cannot be recovered. Give it to more than one person, or store it where someone will find it.

What happens after a year?

The opening date must be within one year. Opening is based on that date, not on a death or missed check-in. The link then stays available for the period you chose, up to 30 days. You cannot renew or extend it. If your date is further away, wait until it is within a year.
