Show you wrote the rubric before grading
A rubric explains how you will grade the work. Sharing it early may change what students write. Sharing it late may leave them unsure when you wrote it.
Choose a lock
Timelock. Both locks keep the saved rubric unchanged. Timelock protects access through the link until opening. It cannot erase copies or keys you retained. You cannot delete it. Students can check the rubric you saved before grading.
Timelock costs $3 USD per Postdate. This covers opening dates within one year and 100 MB including encryption and file packaging. Opening depends on drand and Postdate being available, and on the encryption remaining secure. Senders can keep original copies. Postdates can still expire or be removed for abuse. Send it before it opens
Students may question whether you set the grading rules after reading their work. You need a way to show when you wrote them. Sharing the rubric early could change what students submit.
Share the link on day one to show the rubric already exists. Set it to open when submissions close. Students cannot read it while doing the work. You cannot rewrite the saved rubric after reading their submissions.

Common questions
Does the link show that I saved the rubric before grading?
Postdate shows when the encrypted upload was created. The saved version cannot be edited through Postdate. This is a service record, not independent proof of authorship or when you first wrote it.
Can I delete the rubric if I need to change it?
You cannot delete a Timelock message. Choose Standard if you may need to revise the rubric. Standard lets you delete the original, so it is a less firm commitment.
What if a student never opens it?
Other students can still read it. The link stops serving the content when it expires. By default, it stays available for seven days after opening. You can choose up to thirty days. Tell students to read it before it expires.
