Share exam answers when the exam ends
Paste the answer key and set it to open when the exam ends. Share the link with your class now. Everyone gets the same opening time.
Choose a lock
Timelock. With Timelock, the link needs the scheduled drand release to open. Teachers can still keep their original answer key. Students who find the link early still cannot open it.
Timelock costs $3 USD per Postdate. This covers opening dates within one year and 100 MB including encryption and file packaging. Opening depends on drand and Postdate being available, and on the encryption remaining secure. Senders can keep original copies. Postdates can still expire or be removed for abuse. You see the price before you create the link. Read about Timelock.
Send it before it opens
Sending the answer key after the exam means another email and deadline. Some students may receive it before others. Sending it early lets students read the answers. Sending it later means being available when the exam ends.
Set the answer key to open at the exam end time. Every student gets the same opening time. You do not need to send anything then.
What people see
- Before opening
- They see a countdown. Any public teaser you wrote also appears.
- After opening
- They can read the text and download attached files until the link expires. Files supported by the browser can also be previewed.
Students see a countdown to the time you chose. Buttons below let them add a calendar event and copy the link. They also see any public teaser you wrote. File names, sizes and contents stay hidden until opening. Students can open the answer key in their browser at the set time. The link expires after the availability period you chose, measured from the scheduled opening time.
Adding a calendar event downloads a file to import into your calendar. Set any reminder there. Postdate does not send opening notifications.

Limits
Standard is free for answer keys that open within 7 days and are 1 MB or less. Timelock, later dates, or more than 1 MB cost $3 once. You can choose a date up to a year away. Your text and up to 10 files must fit within 100 MB after encryption and packaging. You cannot delete a Timelock message.
Compare Postdate with scheduled email
A scheduled email is sent later. A Postdate link can be shared now, with the same opening time for every reader. Postdate does not send the link or an opening notification for you. It shows when the Postdate was created.
Common questions
What if a student loses the link?
Send the same link again. Anyone with it can read the answers at the opening time. Students do not need individual access.
Can I change the opening time after sending?
No. The opening time is fixed when you create the message. If the exam time changes, create a new message and share its link. The original still opens at its set time.
What if the exam runs over?
The answer key still opens on schedule. Use the official end time. If the exam might run late, choose Standard. You can delete the message before it opens.
